About the School
A Fun and Dynamic Learning Experience
The Order of the Holy Cross, an Anglican Monastic Order founded in New York in 1884, set down permanent roots in South Africa in 1998 at the personal request of Archbishop Desmund Tutu with the intention of being a site of pilgrimage and retreat, as well as serving to model a life of peace and love-and with that in mind: reconciliation-that could serve as inspiration for all. However, soon after arriving, the farm school system which had served the children in the monastery’s locale collapsed and the brothers were confronted with a very immediate need. What began simply as a transportation project, bussing the area’s children to and from township schools, soon expanded into scholarships, aftercare and tutoring, and finally the Holy Cross School in 2012.
